SCRIPT

CAST

CARA - GEORGIA PILBRO

DRUNK DAD - FRED SEARLE

FABIAN - JUSTICE RITCHIE

COUPLE - ETHAN DE LA CRUZ & ELLA HOLNESS

DARKNESS. FOOTSTEPS.

FADE FROM BLACK. 

EXT.  STAIRS WITH A GRIMY CARPET. SUNLIGHT FROM A NEARBY WINDOW.

Biker boots come into view on the stairs. The biker boots belong to CARA, who walks towards the front door. CARA opens the door, only to be pulled back into the house by her DRUNK DAD. CARA escapes his grip and runs up the stairs.

EXT.  A SMALL ROOM, WITH LIMITED FURNISHINGS, AND BARE WHITE WALLS.

CARA runs into the room, closely followed by her DRUNK DAD. They argue viciously, shouting at each other. 

CARA

-- Why are you doing this? Please stop. Please. --

In a fit of rage, DRUNK DAD knocks over an open BEER BOTTLE. CARA uses this opportunity to run from the room.

EXT.  SAME STAIRS WITH A GRIMY CARPET. SUNLIGHT FROM A NEARBY WINDOW.

CARA runs down the stairs and out the door, failing to close it. DRUNK DAD stumbles down the stairs and stands at the door. He watches her run and waves his hand passively, knowing she'll have to return.

EXT.  A PLAIN FRONT DOOR.

FABIAN exits through the door. A text tone. FABIAN looks at his phone and a worried expression crosses his face.

EXT.  A SECLUDED ROAD SURROUNDED BY TREES. SUNLIGHT FILTERS THROUGH THE LEAVES BUT CLOUDS ARE LOOMING.

CARA walks along the road, her eyes glazed. She trips on an unidentified object and has a rememory.

EXT.  ANOTHER SET OF STAIRS.

CARA view point is low to the ground, suggesting she is on the ground. She reaches a hand up gingerly, but has no energy. Her hand falls back to the ground and the scene goes black.

EXT.  THE SECLUDED ROAD. THE SUNLIGHT IS BRIGHT, CASTING A HAPPY GLOW ON THE SCENE.

CARA continues to walk, and watches as a happy COUPLE pass her, laughing and joking. She looks away, sadness evident in her eyes, and then a flash of anger.

EXT. A LOW LIT ROOM. A TABLE IS SET WITH PLATES AND CUTLERY. A CANDLE GLOWS IN THE CENTRE.

FABIAN leads CARA into the room and lets her sit down. They hold hands across the TABLE as he gives her a ROSE.

EXT. THE SECLUDED ROAD, BUT THE SUN HAS GONE BEHIND A CLOUD. THE ATMOSPHERE IS GLOOMY.

CARA continues to walk down the road, until she stops and sees a BEER BOTTLE, similar to that of her DRUNK DAD's preferred brand. CARA goes to pick it up. Her fingertips touch it. Flashback.

EXT. A TABLE. A BEER BOTTLE IS LYING ON ITS SIDE.

The BEER BOTTLE lays on its side, emptying its contents onto the table. The beer drips onto the carpet.

EXT. THE ROAD, BUT THERE IS A NEW PERSON IN THE AREA.

FABIAN leans on a tree, talking on the PHONE. CARA walks towards him, playing with the bottle in her hands. She is eerily calm. CARA grabs FABIAN by the shoulder and spins him around, using the BEER BOTTLE as a weapon. The last thing FABIAN sees is CARA hitting him in the face with the BEER BOTTLE. FABIAN falls to the ground, as CARA walks away.
