Task 19 - Target Audience Feedback

Our Opening Sequence was shown to 15 people in the 15-24 age range to get feedback.

From the feedback, we found out that our Opening Sequence had achieved the aims we hoped it would. From the previous target audience survey, we found out that they wanted to feel on edge, involved with Cara and as if they too committed the murder. Our feedback showed that we had managed all 3 of these, no one found the Opening Sequence confusing or unclear. They also wanted it to include unexpected twists, which we did.

The overall thoughts of our opening sequence was very positive. People liked our choice and use of music, the fact that stereotypes were reversed and Cara's flashbacks to her home life. Another thing that we received positive feedback on was the fact that the bottle Cara found was the same as her dads. This provoked her memories of her drunk dad and how he could be very violent. An appropriate setting was required for the murder - it couldn't be done in a busy place. Our audience understood that the initial footage of Central London, and then panning our to the suburbs, showed a desolate and secluded place, which was appropriate for a murder.

The best thing our target audience thought was the fact that we stuck to the murder/mystery theme and showed a murder that was seen as believable. It was said to not be exaggerated; it was quick and the editing that followed after it when Fabian was on the ground was very good as it showed him slowly losing consciousness.

Our target audience would change how we portrayed the murder. They would have liked to focus more on the murder instead of Cara's situation. This would have shown how much her dad's actions have effected her. When the couple walk past Cara near the beginning, our feedback showed that it would've been good to show a more eccentric reaction from Cara, who's relationship is not a success. A presence of jealousy when seeing the happy couple would have given her more of a motive to murder Fabian, as he did not treat her like she wanted. This would form into anger and spur her actions.

Of the 15 people who saw our Opening Sequence to, 6 were male and 9 were female. They all enjoyed the reversal of stereotypes and believe that a female can commit a murder just as easily as a male. All 15 said they would like to watch 'Mindless' if it were made into a film!
